Default High mileage maintenance?

I have got an ls1 (of course) it's got ~104,000 miles on it. What should I be doing to make it last longest. I was thinking maybe new lifters. What else. I have the mods in my sig. I don't want to spend much money. I plan on getting a forged engine down the road so I don't want to waste money on this engine. Should I run a different oil since it has high mileage. Just throw me out some options.

If it aint broke and you don't want to mod it then don't fix it...

I'd say if you are happy with how the car runs now then all is well. Just keep up on the oil changes.

And check the springs frequently as I see you have a cam.

So I shouldn't change the lifters out. I don't want one to crap out on me and force me to buy a new engine soon.

If it were me I would let the lifters go, are the getting loud? Changing your oil alittle more frequently wouldn't be a bad thing eather.

I'm changing oil at 3,000 miles. There is hardly any valvetrain noise ESPECAILY for a cam.

Do you use synthetic? This is just an example I have a DD 96 cavaler 119k Changed a head gasket at 100k I could still see faint hone marks in the cylinders The valve train was as clean as my ls1 when I swaped moters at 30k. I change the oil a 2500-3000 W/full synthetic and I run the **** out of it daily. If you have a good maintance program Like your 3k oil changes and no noise's I'd say keep doing what your doing and save for that forged SB you mentioned. Good luck.

I use mobil 1 5w30 sythnetic. I use 0w40 when I can find it. It makes good oil pressure. 45 warm idle. 70 cold idle. A lot when wot. I have never looked but at 4000rpms it was making close to 80psi.

AFAIK the price doesn't change by weight. Only by manufacturer. I bought Mobil 1 5w30 because I couldn't find the 0w40 at the wal-mart that I went to. So actually I have 1 quart 0w40 and 5 quarts 5w30 in my car right now.

I wish the wally world up here would carry M-1 0-40. I have to go to Advance Auto to get it (no 4/5 qt jugs).

Myself, still running the stock/sewing machine sounding internals, but it still runs pretty good @ 130K. I would not be adverse to changing the lifters if I were running an aggressive cam at your mileage, judgement call on your part.
Are you just looking for something to do?
I'm installing headers in a coupla' weeks, cruise on up to Live Oak.

I'll think about it haha...My cam is not very aggresive, even though it's big, it's on some baby lobes. I should be fine. I was thinking about switching to the very aggressive f-14 but I'll just leave it alone. I need to be saving money anyhow.
