Default steering wheel shakes pretty hard

i just noticed yesterday that my steering wheel is starting to shake pretty bad around 45 and up mph. the car doesnt feel like it vibrating to much, but the steering wheel vibrates very noticeably. What could be causing this? last few things i did to the car was change plugs and wires and got a new passanger rear tire put on. But the car wasnt vibrating right after the rear tire install.....any and all ideas are appreciated. Btw the tire pressure is fine in all 4 tires.

You either have a bent rim or a your car is out of alignment.

yeah, it has that warped rotor feeling but without hitting the brakes. when i do hit the brakes it stops vibrating though

if it is at a certain speed range then you most likely have a wheel balance problem. you could even have a slipped belt in your tire. Check the balance on your wheels, that's what I would guess. If it shakes really bad on braking then you most likely have a warped rotor

Rear tires don't cause steering wheel vibration. balance, slipped belt, or loose steering component are probably the cause. A lot of places due free steering/suspension evals. maybe try that and a rotation to see if that solves your problem.

I second that.
Chances are your front tires are out of balance, possible road force issue.
i.e. slipped belt, chopping or flatspotting. but probably just out of balance.

Strange that vibration goes away when braking. If balancing or replacing bent rim doesn't work, closely inspect front rotors and calipers. Maybe you need to have a rotor turned...but not likely. Usually vibration gets worse on braking with a warped rotor.

I just put all new drilled and slotted rotors and new pads on mine. All vibrations went away. Its a sweet ride now.....
