Default Car Died!! No Start!! No Power Up!! Completely DEAD!!!, Fully Charged!

This what happenl; car engaged start-up then died, quickly i restart it and she fired up fine, all this morning. 15mins later I'm dropping my kid off at her school. Go to start the car, everthing powers up in the ON position , fuel pumps wining everything functioning, battery charged , shes a go, I go to start she engages then everthing shuts off , i try again, same thing, i try another time, this time nothing, nothing works no power to anything. everything thats not KEY relative works, locks , trunk, lights, and clock, but nothing else. check all fuses, they all look good. switched around some relays, nothing. nothing powers up no gauges nothing, completely dead, except what i stated before. Also check to see if my latop could connect to the computer , but nothing, usually even if the key is not in the ignition i still get more then one light on my cable blinking . not it's just on slow blinking one. so that maybe think that it was possibly something else besides maybe the ignition lock unless that has something to do with adding power to the computer or the a source where i would get more then one light on my cable blinking,

what would cause this

Check your connections to the PCM. They might be loose after 5 years of the motor vibrating or came loose after your motor install.

Start with the basics first, check that out and then report back. It can only be a power issue or ground issue. So, start by checking the PCM and see if it's got a good tight and wiggle-free connection.

man thats wierd i just had the same problem with my 99 ta last week, when u turn the key do the gauges come on if so disregard this post, i was havin the same thing everythin else would work, yet when i turned the key nothin not even a sound it was like no power what so ever, so i took it to a dealership and left it there turns out it wouldnt do it so i took it and drove it home a few days later it got worse so i took it back and this time it did it, it was a wire in the instrument cluster that was loose or somethin, so mabye this will help u only cost about 100 to get it fixed as opposed to new starter or igintion switch

Had the same problem with my 90 not so long ago and the ignition switch had gone bad. You could check that out. Also, while tracking that down. I learned that these cars can sometimes have these problems if there are issues with the VATS system. It was tough for us to figure out because my problem was intermittent. It would run fine for several months and then go through a spell of not starting but with us being able to run all the accessories and everything. Didn't matter if the car was hot or cold. Strange, but true.

no gauges no power what so every Car does not run, Only things that work is the rear hatch the headlights, interior light, locks, alarm, nothing else..

So i got out my trusty Voltmeter and went voltage checking. Started from the fuse boxes under the hood then checked the PCM grounds and power sources everything checked out good except for C1 19 the PCM IGN on blue Connector PIN-19 wasn't getting any power with the ING Lock on the run position. So put the PCM back in place. Then checked the the the fuses by the door all good except Gauges,IGN port, and a few others. all tested with the IGN on the run position. Nothing from there. so called it a night, assuming i most likely new what was wrong, it Either being the power source to the Ignition lock , the ignition lock it's self or the ignition switch.

IF ANY ONE NEEDS : I HAVE THE ENTIRE MECHANICS BOOK IN PDF FORM of the 3.8L & 5.7L from the car inside out IT's around 17MB big I'll SEND IT TO ANYONE THAT CAN HOST IT

SoL

Hmm, igniton switch...it could possibly be that as I've seen a few on the LSx cars go. I can host it if you want to send it over.

Well, thanks to DVCrazyCamTAWs6 for this contribution. Here is a compilation of the
Repair Manual from Chevrolet for 2000-2001 LS1 motors. Please right click and save the documents if you plan on viewing.

I hope to make this web based later on...

Yes, I have it as a ZIP file just post up with your e-mail me if you would like it. I thought this way, listing the seperate documents, it will be easier for users with dial-up to access. This way, it will help many more people.

Well, tried to PM you my address, but your box is full

I am on dial-up, but I've downloaded some pretty big stuff. It's nice to have them available separately, but if there's a choice, I'd probably prefer to just get them all at once instead of having to save that many files separately

Edit: Actually, since you went offline, I just used a spider program to get them all from the directory (limited to 1 connection at a time ). 73 files, total of 16.5MB
