hard jerking when shifting from park to drive

hard jerking when shifting from park to drive ok........ i dont know how much of a problem this is but here goes....
when i start my car and put it into drive (4l60e) i get a hard jerking....... i have heard a few things and the one that made the most sense is i have some play in the drivetrain....... possibly the tranny( except the car shifts smoothly..... so i dont know )...... any comments or thoughts or anyone with the same problem......... any help would be greatly appreciated........
