Default am losing coolant???

I don't appear to have any leaks (none in garage) I keep topping it off and the light keeps coming on...I keep topping it off and the light keeps coming on.....I keep topping it off.......I think you get the picture. Could it be the radiator cap? I am completely lost on this one.

P.S. My oil looks good so not a blown head gasket!

Could be the water pump, or the head gasket is blown and it is going to the exhaust?

I would tend to think that you might have an intake or head gasket leaking. usually if you have a water pump leaking you can see it run down the front of the block. But with intakes and head gaskets they can leak internally and it will burn off and since it leaks into the clyanders. I would recomend pulling a plug or too and checking them out.

I filled it up then cranked the engine and the low water light comes on instantly. Where is the sensor located at? The radiator is freakin full!!

yeah sounds like a bad coolant level sensor. I am not 100% sure about the F-bodies but they are typically located on the passanger side endcap of the radiator. simple to replace and relatively cheap

I had one go bad on a different car (Saturn). This one was located up in head - screwed in with the connector on the back. I think the LS1 sensor plugs into the left head, under the exhaust manifold. When the sensor was going out in the Saturn, the car would idle like crap. I'm assuming it detected it was all of a sudden 'cold' and bumped up the fuel (similar to a cold start).

The coolant level sensor is on the passenger side of the radiator a few inches below the cap on the engine side(as opposed to the bumper side). It has a large c clamp type clamp on it that you have to remove to take it off. I had one go bad on me too. It's not that hard to replace. Hope this helps!!

yeah blu98 ta is right it is on the passanger side of the radiator. Mreddie was talking about the coolant temp sensor not what you want. But not a hard fix at all

Those sensors are notorious for going bad on 98/99 cars.

This is true even though the 98/99 cars have the most accurate factory water temp gauge.
