Default Knocking/Thumping when applying the brakes

Ever since i purchased my car (about a month ago), whenever i apply the brakes from almost any speed i hear a knocking/thumping sound coming from the rear passenger area! I can also feel a little pulse from the brake whenever the knocking/thumping occurs! Any ideas on what could cause this? The previous owner couldn't find anything, and I, being a newb cant put my finger on it. He said he replaced the brakes a month ago and that they are not the cause of the problem. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If he replaced the brakes a month ago, then he could have noticed something broken and didn't tell you. This happens more often than you think. I would jack up the car and take the wheel off. After you do that, inspect the brake parts: rotor for cracks or warping, caliper for cracks or leaking, caliper bracket for cracks or loose bolts. If you are not sure how to do this, try to find someone you know that is somewhat familiar with disc brakes and have them take a look at it.

This should help you out if you don't know how.

When I put my SLP Y-pipe in, one of the times
I rehung it I put it up so tight that the driveshaft
balance weight was scraping it once a turn. But
only during brake squat. Worth a shot, get the
ramps out and go down on 'er.

you might want to check the caliper mount bolts they seem to come loose even though i thought i tightened mine really good last time i changed my brakes, they would thump and slide up and down because they were loose, you might want to check that

if they turned your roters they might have not done a slow cut, if all they did was fast cut it threaded your roters and your pads keep rideing up them untill they pop back down in place.

i noticed a hairline crack on my rotor, i guess it means my rotor is bad thus causing the thumping noise when i apply the brake.
