new long block wont start
i just installed my new long block and it wont start. it cranks over fine but will not start. i checked for fuel pressure but i dont have any pressure at the rail. relay and fuse are good. when i turn the key on it doesnt even prime. i;ve been told to check for oil pressure. how do i do that? will the guage read pressure after i let off cranking?
*edit i just checked and the motor isnt getting oil which would explain no fuel pressure. i pulled the valve covers and the heads are dry what should i check for?

did you make sure the oil pick up is submerged in the oil, same thing happend to my 1st gen motor when i was rebuilding it, the oil pick up tube was just about a 1/4 of an inch to high and i didnt have any oil pressure.
yeah its submerged. its the same as it was before the engine got built. i put 6 quarts in. the fuel system is priming niw so fuel isnt an issue. is keying the engine over enough to get oil to reach the heads or does it need to be started to build enough pressure to get oil up there?
you should just be able to key it over a few revolutions and be able to start noticing that it's priming. you also want to make sure that the main journals bearings are in the correct way, i'm pretty sure you know that the holes have to line up or else no oil will curculate threw the rest of the engine. also if you got the crank journals grounded your goin to need to get some bearings that make up for the slack, or else it wont have any pressure to lube the rest of the engine.
mine did that and i ended up scuffing up the bearings pretty bad having to get it all unbolted and having to put some new ones in.

the motor was built for me by a reputable sponsor. the fuel pump isnt priming when i turn the key on. i tryed keying it on with the schreder valve out and got nothing. the fuel gage is bottomed on empty and i kow htere is at least n 1/8 to a 1/4 tank in it. im really stumped it ran fine when i pulled the old engine
nah fuel lines were capped while unhooked. i dont even hear the pump prime. and the fuel gauge reading zero when i know fuel is in the tnak isnt good. its wierd because when i pulled the motor the fuel gauge worked and the car ran before i pulled the engine and everything

If the relay and fuses are fine, what powers the relay, look there first, then go back to the pump.
