Default whirring noise when AC/heat is on

Hey guys, over the last few weeks whenever I turn on my air conditioner or heater in the camaro there is a fairly loud whirring noise coming from directly behind the passenger side glove compartment. When I opened the hood to try and pinpoint it the sound seems to be coming from under the cowl on the passenger side. The AC and heat still work fine except for the sound. Also, this may be completely unrelated, but i have been getting bad gas mileage for around the same length of time. Thanks for your help

Scott

that noise is probably coming from the blower motor.

If its the blower motor it has nothing to do with your milage, but I bet he's right. Blowers make bad noises until they finally completly fail.

Alright, thanks for the reply. I will have to go to my mechanic and have it checked. I appreciate the help.

Before you replace it make sure there's nothing in the blower box. And it's easy to check/replace yourself if you need to - from inside the car disconnect the motor connector, remove 3 screws and it pulls right out.
