Is this MAF related?

Is this MAF related? I have a 1999 Grand AM GT (3.4L v6). It has had this problem that has gradually gotten worse over time about when you first crank the car at all weathers it has a hard time holding a steady idle (it alters from 500-1000RPMs). And it may be 2-3 days even of it not doing this, and then it'll start acting up again. I just recently found out that the screen had been removed from the MAF by the previous owner. Would this be the cause of the problem or is it related to the PCM? Oh, and i did recently replace the IAC, but that didn't help any.

I don't know about the airflow metering strategy on
V6s but I suspect the MAF is secondary, down low.
I have other vehicles that act like this when the O2
sensors are getting ready to be replaced. Crusty O2s
can steer your idle mixture off into the weeds.
