first oil change

first oil change so i just bought my 98 ss m6 on the 10, and i think i should do an oil change.....the car has 67k miles, and the previous owner had used synthetic oil....what should i use mobil 1 synthetic or castrol synthetic....and what numbers also....btw i heard that mobil 1 oil is not good for some reason....can't remember...any information is appreciated...
I don't know where you heard that...I use Mobil 1 synthetic 5w30. But hey I thought about changing to Royal Purple next go round. You might want to check it out. Havent heard anything negative.

I just switched to Mobil 1 myself and i use 10w-30. Ive heard that the best motor oil for our cars is the german made Castrol oil, but they stopped importing it or something? Whatever the reason its harder and harder to find the german Castrol oil. From what I've read I think Mobil 1 works just fine. Congrats on your purchase bro!

I got as much German Castrol as I wanted from my local AutoZone today... They had plenty... but it wasn't cheap.
Also, I thought some folks around here weren't too keen on Royal Purple, except for the racing formulas. I'm not sure though.

I have 30 quarts of the Green German Castrol 0w30 and I just bought it last tuesday and Wednesday, so it is still out there. If you cant find that, get the Mobil 1 0w40. The 10w30 mobil 1 thins out too much for our cars. Do a search on Engine Oil and you will find a plethora of info. Or you could pm Patman, he is a oil genious.
ok guys...i was also too wondering about oil for my car as i'm due for an oil change...so you guys think that Mobil 1 10w40 is a good choice right? Also...how many miles would you all still change the oil even since it's synthetic? thanks again for the info...all suggestions greatly appreciated!

Verdad Gallardo what's everyone else's opinions as to the best oil to use for our cars? my 02' only has 28K on the clock and i just wanna make sure i use a really good oil since i intend to keep this car...thanks again everyone...i really appreciate it
its been said that the rp is too thin and gets way to thin to quick.
the m1 5w30 also gets thin later on in its life.
m1 makes a 5w40 havent tried it yet.
same with a 0w40
the germen castrol 0w30 is thinker then normal 0w30 more like a 5w35 or so.
i just picked up some amsoil 5w40
