Check Engine Light Came On

Hey guys i dont know were to put this but i really need your help
today i was driving my 1999 dodge ram 1500 in 4x4 since there was still snow out and the check engine light came on i got home fine and it runs like normal, i listened to the motor and it also sounds like it is running fine. i dont know why the light came up and wont go off please help me out

The first thing I'd check is if the gas cap is screwed on all the way.

Only way to see what the light is about is to hook up a scanner. Can you get to someone that has an OBD scanner?

take it to autozone and get it scanned for free.

Disconnect the battery completely. This will clear the memory on your computer. If there really is a problem the check engine light will come back on. Then take it to autozone and get it scanned. Fix the problem.

My Catalytic Converters are bad, and it drives, and sounds normal. Although there is a distinct smell when I stop after WOT. My guess is that it could very likely be o2 sensors or something of the sort, especially if you have an after market exhaust. Do You?
