ses light how do i reset it

ses light how do i reset it SES light has come on and i also went to autozone to have a test done and was told it was the kknock sensor.................well further studying has informed me that it could be gas , a gas cap. or wet electrical system ,,,,being that i recently went mudding then washed the truck.....how might I reset the ses light to go off?
fit the problem, then it'll go off!
that guy at the part store sounds dumb...........gas cap??
there are a few codes for the knock sensor, which one , front or rear ?, low volts etc.....

When my ses light came on, I just went up to auto zone and waited till they were extremely busy, around 5 or 6 oclock. Then asked if I could take there OBD II scanner out to my car since they were busy cause I'm kinda in a hurry. He said sure and made me leave my liscense. I just went out to my car plugged it up, and erased the code. Their not allowed to do it, because they can get fined lots of money if they delete a code and something goes terribly wrong with the car. So mabie if you ask them if you could delete it, they might let you.

well the owners manual on my 2000 chevy silverado z71 says it could very well be bad gas ,gas cap , wet wiring.....or the codes for right knock sensor ...yes low volt/ circuit

ses light problems well i diconnected the battery and it went out ...........BUT ! !!!! ,,,,,it keeps coming back on....... and when it does i sware it sounds sorta like the radiator fan is running faster or something and i have less horsepower ,,,,,it feels this way just a bit.....but if I reset the ses light by disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it it seems to all be fine until it comes back on.......is there anyone out there that really knows something about the 2000 chevy z71 silverado that can tell me how to fix this problem?

of course if you erase the code but don't fix the problem the SES light will be commanded on by the PCM. and each time you turn off the SES light with a scan tool, the defect still gets logged as a history DTC. BTW a gas cap can cause a SES light if the PCM detects that it isn't on tight.

This is now you can reset it. Turn your switch to the "on" position. Dont start the car. In the fuse panel under the hood pull the PCM BAT and PCM IGN fuses. Wait 5-7 min. Turn switch off and then replace fuses and then start car, light shuold go out.
