T-tops Ticking/Tapping

Ok, so what you did was put the foam between the linakge and the plastic cover. So what is happening is the linkage is tapping on the plastic when it moves around making that irritating noise. When something soft is put between the two items, it's gone! Do I have that right? If so great idea and thanks for the help. When I get the time (or it warms up outside) I'm going to try that. Thanks!
If it was from the linkage do you think that greasing the linkages at the joints with some heavy wheel bearing grease would help?
If that didn't work maybe it would be possible to take up some of the play by banging on the rivets or like vise-gripping them? Whatever you can do to close up the tolerance on those joints.

I only sent you two pics. I wanted to take more pics of the inside so you could get a better idea of what I did but I used superglue on the two screws (kinda like loctite) to keep everything real tight and snug.Sorry.

I've had the covers off a couple times before. Those screws never tighten again, so yeah I understand the glue part (or loctite). Was I right about the placement? You put the foam on the inner face of the plastic so the metal linkage doesn't hit it anymore, correct?
I have tried to tighten the rivets with no luck...pliers, hammer, etc. With use they have just gotten worn.
