rattle/clinking noise

rattle/clinking noise please please help ok i have a 2001 trans am M6, still stock everything pretty much except whats in my sig. has 56k miles, OK when im in a given gear usually 3rd and up with my rpms around 1500, low for just cruising, if i happen to tap the pedel down real quick or even somtimes slow just to get up and go a little without downshifting i get this weird clanging sorta rattle noise for a little bit under the hood definatly in the front of the car area till the rpms go up usually aboe 3500 and then its gone its not real loud kinda low but u definatly can hear it there. if i keep taping the gas and letting off itll keep doin it everytime only when i first touch the gas though, it wont do it if the rpms are higher just when there real low around 1500-3500, odd i think, is this normal or is there somethin bigger goin on in my poor car lol. im new to ls1's and manuals in rwd only had autos in rwd and sticks in fwd, if someones got an idea plz lemme know i still have warrenty for about 9 more months so if its somethin thats goin ill get it done for free if i can. another thing i noticed last night i was idleing for about 10 mins and when we started moving it did the noise like crazy for about 2 blocks then it smoothed out and was only doing it normally again its driving me nuts someone please gimme some ideas

hmm perhaps never new about the flywheel being able to make that noise but maybe, could it be because my clutch isnt working properly, i need to have it bled it has alot of play at the top before it does anything when i press it. ok well that one idea some more input please, oh and what can happpen from a flywheel chattering

umm i never hear it in 1st, a couple times i started in 3rd by accedent and it made the noise pretty loudly while the engine was bogging just to gettin me moving, if that helps ill try what u said tho on break im at work now

i would think that but i always run 93 octane, i dunno why i would detonate especally only at lower rpms wouldnt that happen at high rpms, its also a little different sounding than when my turbo mazda pinged from detonating i guess it could be diffrent but i dunno, would autotap pick up detonating cause implanning on buying it maybe i will asap if itll help, ill try filling up with sunoco 94 next time and see if it help but i dunno if thats the problem, also with as much noise as im gettin wouldnt it throw a ses light also doesnt the computer account for the fuel and adjust the timing accordingly for it

well i just threw in a quart of mobil1 10w30 sense i was a little low and i also threw in a bottle of octane booster and filled up at a new gas station shell with 93 and it seems one of the things, im thinking the oil, got rid of the noise now the question is what would make that noise with the oil being a little lower than completely full
