What is the larger filter that will fit and accept the full 6 quarts of oil. Oh, just something else I saw, the K&N 1007 filter that is recommended for a 5.7 liter V8 is the same one that is used on a 2.4 liter ecotec. Maybe it is just me, but I think my larger engine needs a larger filter.

Filters that rate very highly and that I would use - Purolator PureOne, AC Delco (cheap but good) Hastings (not many places carry them) NAPA Gold & Carquest Blue both made by WIX, K&N, Mobil 1. I would say away from any filter made by Champ labs. Bosch, STP, Pennzoil, Quaker State, etc.

From the tests I have read I would not put a Fram on my lawnmower!!

I prefer Mobil 1. K&N is fine but I won't risk ripping the nut off the bottom if I run over something. (the nut is a nice feature if you drive something with some ground clearance)These are both premium and more expensive filters.

If I were to use a regular filter it would be AC but a few of the others are ok too.

I should clarify. Its not that they are BAD, its they are are not competitive on the same price level as competing filters. They are made with inferior internals and charge the same amount per filter as ones that are made with superior internals. Your car won't spontaneously combust as you are driving down the road, its just you are paying too much for a filter when there are better ones at the same price.

I think the Fram TG is very good, have been using them for years and never had a problem. For $4 at walmart, I can't complain.

Yeah but I bet you would be suprised to cut aparts a Carquest red, or NAPA blue filter (the cheap ones) which sell for around $3.00 and find a filter with more filter media, and metal end caps instead of cardboard. With FRAM filters you don't get what you pay for and believe me I have cut apart a few of them in my time

Where do you guys buy your K & N oil filters at? I've checked at Pep Boys, Advance Auto, and Auto Zone, and though they all have K & N oil filters, none of them carry
the #1007 that is listed for our cars.
