Default What sensor could cut off spark at high revs?

When I rev my engine above 5K the PCM cuts sparks, or thats what I think is happening because whenever my engine revs above 5K it cuts off, it just bogs down until it turns off completely and then I have to start it back up. What sensors could cut off the spark? Or could it be a internal engine problem.

Well, I posted that question before and everyone said it wasn't the rev limiter since it completely turns off. and I have to restart it by turning the key. I have heard other people hit the rev limiter and just bounces of not turn off. I might just get an aftermarket TAch to see if thats the problem. But I will wait to find a used one.

Could be bad spark plugs too. I had that happen to me when I had my 98 Formula. It was cured by changing to a fresh set of plugs, as my NGK TR6s had gotten fouled out so they were misfiring badly at anything above 5k. It felt like the fuel pump was gone, it would just not rev beyond 5k.

when my freinds crankshaft position sensor went bad he had the same type of problem..a high RPM miss...I think its kinda rare for them to go bad, but it def. wouldnt hurt to check it out if you already have tried the obvious things.

If it was a knock sensor it would make the engine light turn on, right?
