Any tips on changing the alternator on a 2000 SS Should I remove the power steering hose? It looks like a pain.....
Any certian tools that would help?
First time working in an engine compartment that I have to have rubber arms to manuver around..

What i do is remove the front 2 bolts(15mm). Then I completly take off the litttle pully (15mm)next to the alternator to get to the bolt(15mm) on the aternator bracket. You don't need to take the bolt out, just loosen it so that the alternator is easier to take out and put back in. Remove the back bolt with a 13mm wrench. The ground wire is also a 13mm. Be very careful when wrestling the alternator out. Remember that there is a one wire plug on top of the alternator that needs to be removed also. To get to that plug you need to position the alternator to get a flat head screwdriver to undo the plug. Remember to unplug you battery when you start.

There is CRAP all OVER the thing........it looks like i have a leak in the power steering pump, but the level isnt too bad almost normal...
boy i miss my 84 mustang, I used to be able to change that alternator in 10 mins.
I've got scars on my hands from that damn factory heat shield on the manifold. I was contemplating dropping the sway bar to get some clearance from the bottom side. Somehow I got the new one back in. You need small hands to work on these cars.
