My understanding is that with the smaller filter our cars use 5.5 qts of oil. The bigger filter allows an extra .25 of a qt so i guess technically we should be using 5.75 qts with the larger filter but I can't imagine an extra .25 qts could hurt anything. I think going to 6.5 might be a stretch though. Just my 2 cents.

The LS1 can tolerate an extra 1 to 1.5 quarts of oil, even with the stock sized filter! There is a lot of leeway in this engine, both in the f-body version and the C5 version (which has a bigger oil pan, but still can take even more, as I put in 7.5 quarts in mine!)

So a full 6 quarts with the stock size filter won't be a problem?

WIX for me. We cut apart multiple oil filters here in my automechanics class. So far WIX has the most filtering material.

I use the big K&N. I used to use Mobil 1. The Mobil 1 filters a little better but the K&N has a little more flow.

Wix here I cut my filters after running and the wix look to me like it gets more crap out than any other brand..Actually the Mobile 1 filter and Wix look to filter the same but for since Wix is half the cost thats what I go with.

Running the same one here. Although Wix is probably my favorite.

Which brand is actually made my Wix? I swear i can remember hearing the Napa Gold was made by wix, but i cant remember. If it is made my wix, do you guys that prefer Wix use the Napa Gold? Or do you think that the one they make for Napa is not the same quality as the ones with their name on them?
