Default Stuck Lugnut

Ive got a lugnut that will rotate freely around the stud but ill not come off. Any ideas on how to get it off? It looks as if the stud will need to be replaced also. Anyone have a writeup on how to do it?

Does the nut look like it might take a key? A strange squiggled slit on the face of the nut. It sounds like you're trying to remove a locking lugnut....

no...it spins freely like either the lugnut is stripped or the stud is stripped. It will not catch a thread so it will not tighten or loosen at all

Are you sure the nut is spinning on the stud, or is the stud spinning freely in its hole?

If the stud is spinning freely I would think you'd have to either air chisel off the head and pull it out or somehow cut/grind off the head. Hopefully, it's only the stud ribs wore off and not the hole wallowed out.

Either way, getting the head off may be how you'll have to remove it.

Just a thought...

take a socket that is a little to small and hammer it on then us an impact. pull backward while trying to take it off.

Just cut the stud off and replace the stud and lugnut. It'll take like 10 minutes. Good luck!
