low oil light is on
I have never done it, and got the info I need pretty much. Instead of paying some grease ball 60 bucks I told myself that I am gonna just do it myself. Going to use mobil 1 10w30 and a acdelco filter... Gonna do it over spring brake.
The worst thing it could be is maybe bad rings or something. I never got to dig in that deep in any engine so I'm guessing here.
What I would do if I were you... Fill it to the full mark after its up to temperature and on a level surface. Run through a full tank of gas. At your next fill up, check the oil (warm and on a level surface). If there is no change in oil level, repeat this through about 4 more tanks (1000 miles). Then you'll know for sure if your losing oil or not. Like I said earlier... if you're loosing 2 quarts in 1000 miles, you got to be able to see or smell something.
Next, have somebody follow you as you get on it a bit (if they can keep up
) and watch and smell for burning oil smell. If you notice any of these things, it could be a number of issues. Piston rings being the most common cause (besides an actual leak) of burning off oil.
Take it from there. Keep an eye on it.
