Default Optima "Blue top"

Does anyone have the part number for the bluetop optima battery that will work with our cars? I saw one at the track the other day and thought it looked sweet with a blue car.

You could get a red top and put a blue cover on it, people sell em, idk where, try ebay.

I have a red top but don't like how it stands out.

You can get the smooth colored tops on ebay in several different colors, but the colored battery top will still show. If you go with a red top battery/red top smooth cover or yellow top battery/yellow top cover you'd be fine.

Blue tops are marine gel cell batteries meant for trolling motors on boats, not starting cars. Get either a red or yellow top. Reds are normal starting batteries and yellows are deep cycles for cars that have a lot of power needs or sit for long periods without being started. I got a Yellow top 2 years ago and it's great. You just need to get the hold down adapter that replaces the stock piece and fits the curved cell part of the Optima.

I thought Bluetops were "Marine/RV" Dual Purpose batterries? Meaning, meant for both Cranking and Deep Cycle. Which in turn makes them great for people with audio systems in their cars. Just cause it says "Marine" doesnt mean its no good in a car. It's all marketing.

So a yellow top would be fine for me then. My car sits in a garage during winter time and I'd rather have the yellow under my hood instead of red. Either way it's time to step up to a new battery since I'm still sporting the stock battery.

If the blue top is a Deep Cycle then by definition that means the battery wants to be drained down THEN charged (ie out on the boat having a few fishing or whatever.)
That makes it not good for automotive apps. with the alternator constantly charging it.

note: i have a red top

umm a yellow top is a deep cycle...so your saying that I should drain my battery down then start my car to let the altenator recharge it...
deep cycle would be in reference to the ablity to discharge a large percentage of its capacity then recharge not that you have to. the yellow top in my ws6 has been working fine with two high flow amps a cap and stock altenator for 3 years. their web site says that the color of the case not the top is the tell tale sign of what the battery is indended for.

Going further the blue top can be had in both dual purpose and starting apps. The starting battery is meant only for starting applications whereas the dual purpose is meant to be used as both constant power and starting.
