About 12 bucks a quart. yea, it's not cheap. That is another reason to love the GC...5 bucks a qt.

The 0W30 GC is thicker than M1 5w30. Also man, a 5W30 and a 10W30 are gonna be exactly the same once the oil is up to operating temperature. So no, you will not notice a difference in the summer between a 5w30 or 10w30 once your oil is at operating temp. The only way i can explain how the 0W30 is thicker than the 5W30 is like this...Picture the mobil 1 being like a 5W30.5, where as the GC is a 0W39.5. Now of course these are not real numbers, but you can get the point. The mobil 1 is just barely thick enough to be called a 30wt, where as the GC is really almost a 40 weight, but its just thin enough to be called a 30wt.

well i went with Royal Purple 10w-30 and im happy with it, good pressure and car feels alittle different but could just be me. also got a chance while the car was up on jack stand to take that damn AIR pump out since it was no use, just added weight i didnt need. also went with the AC Delco Oil filter thanks for the replys just had to see how good Royal Purple is since my friend says his car performs so much better with it and he has the same car as me.

how is 10w-30 not thick enough?? Royal Purple is suppose to be a really good oil and performs awsome, you guys said 5w-30 wasnt a good choice with Royal Purple, so i stepped up to 10w-30 and if this oil sucks it will only be in there for 3000 miles until i change the fluids again no biggy wanted to see if its as good as all the tv shows says it is. couldnt find the german castrol 0w-30 anywhere so that was the oil i was looking for but didnt work out that way.

any 5 or 10/30 are going to be the same, not matter what brand. GC is only sold at Autozone.

I've sold quite a bit of Amsoil's Euro formula 5w40 to people here on LS1TECH. By far that is the most popular of the oils I've sold to the LS1 crowd, both locally and through national orders.

Another popular Amsoil choice would be the XL 5w30... it's cheaper than the 5w40 and works nicely. I've used that quite a bit in my Z28 that I've raced a lot.

In my LT1 C4, I use XL 10w40, since it's a car I bought with high mileage on it.

i think i saw some at pepboys when i was there, and you might want to check walmart to from what i hear they might have it, but for the GC you can only get that at AutoZone.

The old T/SUV 5/40 you may be able to find some at Wal-mart if they havent gotten rid of it yet, and as Z28 said, ive find that pepboys stocks it. If you cant find it at any of those places, dont worry b/c the Turbo Diesel Truck 5/40 should be shipping in a few weeks and should be just as good if not the same as the T/SUV 5/40. HTH

Alright cool...I just picked up 11 more quarts of the Green GC today...once i use that up i may give the M1 5W40 a try to see how that it is. Just out of curiosity...has anybody ever tried the Shell Rotella Synthetic 5W40 in an LS1??? I know you can get a gallon jug at walmart for like 14 bucks...i bet its pretty good oil.

I'm wondering the same thing. I can't find any 5W40 M1 anymore. A always ran the Rotella in my Cummins..never used it in anything else before.
