Default Oil Suggestions

ok well i just recently got my oil pan leak fixed, thought it was old oil that leaked out when they changed my oil pump and the cover had a bad seal and leaked, well come to find out i was right and the oil pan gasket took a crap and now i am wanting to change the oil since i dont think they changed it or put more in, oil pressure is slightly under 40 at idle and i am wanting it to be above 40 at idle. currently have KOI non synthetic oil in and am wanting to switch to synthetic, thing is i switched to synthetic awhile ago and the tuner changed it back to regular since they didnt have any synthetic. now my question is what synthetic would be a thicker viscosity that will up my pressure and be a good oil??? im thinkin possibly royal purple but cost alittle much for a bottle of it, considering i need 5. i hear alot of good things about moble 5w-30 or should i go with 10w-30???? and also do you need to flush the system if you change to synthetic or just add synthetic and let it be??

I agree and would also put the GC 0W-30 at the top spot on my list. I would put Redline 5W-30 on my list. I stay away from M1 5W-30 and Royal Purple 5W-30. RP Racing 41 is suppose to be a good oil for LS1's as well.

I use the K&N. I use the larger filter though. It's the HP-2006 I believe. The HP-1007 is the stock size, tiny filter. The large filter extends slightly below the oil pan. Actually just the nut on the bottom of the filter sits below the pan.

i wouldnt pay for the K&N when a WIX or delco pf59(If you can find this one) does the job just as good for like 6-7$ less. Just my 02.

i see it as a oil filter is and oil filter, whats the difference really other than price and brand. i know K&N is suppose to be the really good but you change the damn thing every 3000 miles anyways. i will prolly go with delco.

i figure since it doesnt get to cold around here and summer is right around the corner that i will prolly go with 5w-30 or 10w-30 with a delco filter, how much does a new fuel filter cost also. mine has 95,000 miles on it and might be time for a change.

Yeah I always use the German Castrol and either a Delco or Napa Gold filter. WIX has outperformed a lot of the competition in tests, but at least in my neighborhood I can't find them anywhere. I went with the Napa last time because I'm fairly sure WIX private labels for them.

And a fuel filter is like $7-$9 dollars. I feel like the brand matters a lot less on those than oil filters so I usually just grab a Fram because they have them even at Wal-Mart, although I'd never touch their oil filters.

Has anyone had the flow rate or filtration ability tested on the WIX filter? Just wondering because the last report on filters I read showed the K&N to flow better and trap more dirt than any other filter tested. Again, not sure if the WIX was tested or not.

I picked my K&N's for 8 bucks each and if it flows and filters better it's cheap insurance in my book. I'll cheap out on a lot of things but my engine oiling system is not one of them.

I'm afraid I do not agree with this statement. Cheap filters do not flow as well and do not trap enough dirt. They have also been known to burst on occasion. In my opinion cheaping out on oil or an oil filter is asking for trouble. Especially when we're talking about a few dollars difference.
