i ran it once for about 5k miles. i didnt do an analysis of it which i should have. But i have to say it was great. Little valvetrain noise and oil pressure was wayyy better than when i ran M1 10W30. I think its the best oil M1 offers......

I've been using it for a while and like it. It's a bit more quiet than 5w&10w-30, but it still knocks a little on startup.

I just got the last six bottles of of the Mobil 1 5w-40 Truck and SUV in our Wal-Mart for $4.50 a bottle (normally $5.52). I'm not usually that lucky. It was in the clearance section since they are displaying the new 5w-30 Truck and SUV now.

I also recommend Amsoil 5w40, Redline 5w40 and Belgian made Castrol 5w40. Any of these oils would work very well in the LS1 family of engines.

5w40 M1 here. Just put it in about 2K miles ago, but I like it better than the 5W30 I was using.

The 5-40 is thicker, therefore will protect better esp in the summer if you live in an area that gets pretty hot like me in southern florida. It is a good oil that can be run yearound. There arent really any downsides to using this oil that i know of. It will only be better than a 30 weight oil.

It's not bad to switch back and forth but why would you want to? If you run synthetic you can leave it in for longer, so you don't need to be wasting time changing oil and can spend more time driving.

If you do decide to go with dino oil, go with 10w40.

hey patman..have you heard anything about the M1 5W40?? Do you know when its coming back out?? If it is coming back out, i heard its going to be labeled as a diesel oil. Do you think this will be just as good/better than there older 5W40? And if so..would you still recommend it for the LS1?

M1 is relabeling the T/SUV 5/40 as Turbo Diesel Truck 5/40. It should be the exact same thing as the old T/SUV name. It is scheduled to arrive in stores in April so we should be seeing it very soon. Supposedly some places already have it and i heard its going to be available at Wal-mart, Advanced Auto, and Autozone. HTH

it is supposed to be almost as good as the GC. It is however harder to come by than the GC. Castrol also reformulated it so it is made in the US, not Belgium any more. It is difficult to find actual BC made in Belgium.

When checking the data sheet for the T/SUV 5-40 against the Delvac 1 5-40 I noticed they are the same. The data sheet for the rebadged Turbo Diesel 5-40 is not yet available on the website. I have 17 qts of the T/SUV 5-40, that should last until things settle out...
