engine noise
engine noise I just installed a new 200 amp alternator in my fbody and also put a new s belt. now there is a whine noise and it increases the more rpm i have. Could this be the pulleys are making noise, or could it be just the pulley that came with the alternator because the new pulley is slightly smaller than the stock one? Im not sure if buying a underdrive pulley set will help my problem or not. Please any help or advice would be great

Heh, I've had this problem since I bought my car (November 2004). It only got louder when I put on an underdrive crank pulley. Now it sounds like my car is blown.

I too would like to see if anyone has corrected this problem. yes i know what you mean, my friend said it sounds like i have a supercharger or something when im driving down the street! I dont really know too much about engines what is a belt dressing and how would i install this? sorry

My car sounds like it's got a Kenny Bell under the hood sometimes. Only really became noticeable after I put the UD pulley on.

Sounds like this is kind of common...has anyone fixed this problem? I am running a Gatorback for the serpentine pulleys and a Gates belt for the A/C; I think I might pick up a Gatorback belt for the A/C and see if that does anything.
