Stalls/Falls on face

Stalls/Falls on face I just bought a 2000 SS. It doesn't matter how I accelerate, but when I reach around 2500 RPM it stalls and picks back up. The slower that I accelerate the more noticable it is. If I accelerate real slow then it is almost like someone is either cutting off the air or the fuel. The car is bone stock and has all emissions components, doesn't have any tune, and isn't tripping an SES light. Any help would be appreciated. My next step is change the fuel filter followed by logging driving with HP tuners. I'd rather hang onto my $$$ as I am going to order HP tuners for 2000 LS1 within a couple of weeks to a month. This is not a DD but I'd like toget it straightened out ASAP. 
Mine does something similar intermittently, the wires into my MAF are jacked up. When mine does it, it usually throws the SES code though. "MAF low-voltage" is what I get.
The tuning software is your best bet for figuring it out.
It could have to do with EGR (low pedal, low-mid RPM
is where that is bleeding in gas, and jacking timing).
But 2500RPM is also where you cross a fuel trim cell
boundary and you may have some funky fuel trims
that are driven by O2 sensor aging, MAF fouling, etc.
and once you step out of the low-RPM "bucket" into
the higher one, things get better.
