Default replacing temp sensor

it might seem dumb , but i can t figure out how to get the old one out. i cant use a socket or wrench, its too close to the header and theres not enough room for either tool to fit.

Have you tried a crowfoot? If it's too close for one you might have to loosen the header and pull it away from the head a little ways.

i finally got it out...it seems like the old sensor had thread lock...do i need to put some on the new one?? the damn instructions say not to use any grease but nothing about thread lock??

and would i need to reset my car after replacing the sensor? or will a code just go away on tis own...it was throwing a P0118 code

I know when I replaced mine (broke it during the header install) I just unplugged the battery and it was fine.
But, I tried 2 off brands (from napa & autozone) and they did not work for some reason. So, I went to GM (I think it was a AC delco brand) and put it in and it worked fine.

How many times have you started the car since you replaced the sensor? I ask this because the control module turns OFF the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) after 3 consecutive ignition cycles that the diagnostic runs and does not fail.

If you stop by autozone tell them you bought the sensor and still have a check engine light. Have them pull the codes and delete it, if it comes back then you have a problem with the new sensor or mabey the wiring.

see thats the thing, the SES light only came on the frist couple of times i started the car after header install. but i had forgotten to plug back in the wiring to the sensor. this was last thursday, ofcourse i plugged it back, but since friday i have not had the SES light on. But i still went in that same day to get it scanned to see why it came on to begin with.
