Question 02 SS Battery

Hello....

Have a question.... Is 19001806 the correct stock part number for the Delco battery for a 2002 SS and can these be bought from the dealer still?

Thanks!

I don't know what the part number is, but I sure wouldn't buy a Delco battery. In case you haven't heard, they don't hold a charge very well and they leak (mine did). Get an Optima.

Interesting guys. Mine is 4 years old with no leaks, but I feel it's getting a bit weak so I thought I'd look into getting a Delco replacement. I've got 40K miles on this car and have had no issues on anything. Maybe I'm lucky. But I am looking for a Delco replacement and not aftermarket even though they may be a better product.

Thanks!

Anyone know the correct Delco replacement part number? I believe I can get it from Chevrolet, but I thought I would ask here first.

Well... I got off my lazy A$$ and called the dealer. The number is 19001627 and it's a 6 yr. battery for $75.00.

Thanks for your time guys.

According to my helms GM PN 19001806 is the the V6 - 525 A battery. 19001808 is listed for the LS1 - 690 A. Mine also came with the 525. Make sure your new one is a 690.

Nothing wrong with the Delco batteries in my experiance. I use them in all my cars, never had one leak and they have always lasted for a decent time.

Stock Delco in my Bonneville went 5 years, and the current Delco is going on 5 years with no signs of weakening. The stock Delco in my Monte Carlo is 4 years old and still going strong. The stock Delco in my Camaro made it 6 years before going weak.

No issues with Delco batteries here. Not sure on the part number though, just go to the dealer and they'll look it up.

I believe you're right about the 525 CCA, but this is definitely the original battery. I'll check the new CCA. The dealer gave me that new number. What do you show for CCA on a 19001627, 2001NBMZ28?

Thanks for the help!

Okay....it looks like CCA is 650 and cranking is 810. Should be a good fit and much better than orig.

Thanks!

That'll work. Haven't had any luck with batteries myself. Delco crapped out just before warranty expired, sears diehard gold (550A?) died just over two years, got my $ back and now trying an optima red top (720A). Only 24K on the car, but lots of short trips.

The Delco battery you get over the dealer parts counter is better than the one issued on the assembly line. But personally even the factory stock batteries have served me well, never had one start to weaken any sooner than 4+ years.

I drive about 120 miles a day and in extreme heat during the summer months. It's getting to the point now that when I make several short trips during mid-day it's not as quick to start as it used to. I figure it's about time for a new one. Besides, it's four 1/2 years old. It'll probably last another year, but I'm not waiting. Don't need to put more strain on the charging system.

Thanks for all the input on this. It's been very helpful.
