Default 02 WS6 Loud Air Pump

On my 02 WS6 it seems that the air pump has been excessively loud when it runs, sounds like a shop vac. I mean it's real loud. My brother has a 1998 standard TA and you can hear his air pump run, but it makes maybe a quarter of the noise that my 2002 makes. His 98 is much quieter.

Were 02 WS6 air pumps different than what's in a standard 1998 TA? Does a 2002 have a louder motor or something?

Maybe I'll just order up a new motor and install it to see if that takes care of it.

maybe your air pump to header tube check valves(two) are going bad. I replaced both of mine and the noise stopped. I have since totally removed the air pump.

shep28, are these the check valves you are talking about?

Time to do the !AIR Mod - lose all that crap - don't waste the $$ on replacing.

But if you're insistant on replacing - I have the A.I.R. Pump out of my 2K WS6 with approx 12K miles on it available, along with all the other A.I.R attending crap...

Default Fixed

In an effort to keep my car as stock as possible, I took 1QUIKWS6 on his offer to buy his old pump. I installed it last night and let me tell you that it is almost silent compared to my old air pump. Something was definitely wrong with it, maybe a bearing went out or something in the electric motor.

Anyway, problem resolved. Thanks all.
