My car isn't throwing off any codes but I have noticed that when it gets hot I can smell this odd scent like burnt syrup. The car runs good as far as always starting up and never bogging down really and it doesn't miss or act strange besides that it's slow. I think as it stands ANYONE could whip me. Here is what my tires look like, I really don't know anything about tires..at all. Wouldn't the SES light come on if something were wrong with the O2 sensors or cats?
if your car smells like burnt syrup then you probably have a coolant leak or possibly a blown head gasket.

I'm going to try to find someone that will check it out for me because I don't know what I'm looking for. I know I'm leaking oil but I really don't have the money to even think about fixing that right now. It will be hard to find someone that will do a tune up on my car, everyone is obcessed with GM's 100,000 mile thing. I've been turned away from service before because my 83 camaro only had 27,000 miles on it.

Who needs to go 158 anyways.... 99 percent of your driving is 0-65 mph anyways... not worth it to me..

its just the thought of it....any car can do the 0-60...watching a honda blow up at 140 when its trying to stay with you is a joy in itself......leaking oil doesnt always mean its gonna be an expensive fix

I am almost positive the smell would be coolant related. I know exactly the smell you're talking about.

hmm.. I have another question.
Why is it that the stock exhaust is quiet on ls1s? I would think that GM would learn from the mustangs that were released around the same time that the sound of the GTs and Cobras helped sell them. I would most identify the sound of my ws6 with the sound of someone farting in tight pants.. poot poot poot lol

because we have shitty low flow mufflers....gm spent more money on the engines in these cars instead of what ford spent on theres....thats why a ford can sound good, but get the dog mess stomped out of it

It's the y-pipe more then the muffler...the stangs come with a h-pipe I believe, maybe a x-pipe I don't remember

But yea...do a full tune-up like everyone else is saying. When you're changing the plugs do a compression test..
