Car shuts off for a split second during a WOT shift
I have a strange problem that just showed face on my 98 Z28. During a WOT blast on the 1-2 and sometimes the 2-3 shift, the car will cut off for a split second and fire back up. You can't hear the motor shut down, but all the gauges reset along with the radio and ASR resetting. I can repro the problem all the time on the 1-2 shift, sometimes the 2-3 and never the 3-4 shift. I'm thinking it has nothing to do with RPM but the shock of the shift, and of course the shock on the car is worse in lower gears.
Any ideas? Maybe a loose ground?

You just might be hitting the rev. limiter and the limiter is shouting things down for a second. The rev. limiter is easy to hit in 1st and even in 2nd. Not as likely in 3rd.

one extreme case could be problem with rev limiter. Rev limiter turns on and causes a short somewhere. Not very likely, but i see weirder things at work every day.

I found it.
The other day, pulling out of the driveway, no power steering and fluid everywhere. What happened was the heavy power lead to the alternator was tapping the return side of the power steering pump and was arching across, and finally put a hole in the line. This also freyed must of wire to the alternator. Worn motor mounts caused it and will get replaced this weekend.
