Default stalled in a puddle, car wont start, what do u think is wrong?

i was pulling into this shopping plaza last night, and there was a big *** puddle... it wasnt super deep, probably like 5 inches. i couldnt get out of there cuz that would require me to back up into the street where cars are going by. so i decided to go thru... while going thru car stalled, and rolled to the less deep part. i turned the car off let it sit for a while, tried to start the engine, it turned and then stopped, tried again, it turned and i heard like a clunk! and it stopped, then i tried again but this time it would just click and nothing happened. got the car towed back to my complex and put it in a parking spot. disconnected the battery hoping that maybe there was some electric short and water would dry up by today... no dice, when i try to start i hear like a click and a high pitched whine which fades out and the engine doesnt turn at all. Electrics work fine in the car..

What should i expect to be broken?

I have the p1-sc setup the intake is down low, so it may have sucked water into it, but would that make the engine not start?

thanks alot

Sounds like it sucked in some water and hydrolocked. Hopefully you did not bend a rod or anything else by cranking on it.

Pull your sparkplugs and turn it over and watch for water to get pushed out the plug holes.

werd

water does not compress like air/fuel mixture. Lots of folks have found that our the hard way and had to replace their motors. As o2man98 said, hopefully you did not bend a rod. Sometimes people with a FTRA or supersucker will drive an LS1 through a deep puddle and have a rod shoot out the side of the block. Tends to ruin your whole day.

Pull all of your plugs and check for water in the cylinders.

Pretty big price for the few hp that those setups give. Also pull the fuel pump fuse when you pull the plugs and crank it over.

Try to turn over the engine with a breaker bar. If it's hydrolocked, it won't move at all.

But most likely you'll need a new engine. I've seen it happen too many times.

Sorry to hear about that man, hope your engine isn't ruined.

This is the exact reason I'd rather duct incoming air through the stock Ram Air hood inlets rather than doing the "Free Ram Air mod". Same effect, without the dangers of sucking in water.

IF you do start it, let it sit and run. Burn up the water, i did the same thing last year.

I hate to say this but the motor is locked up. I had that happen to my SBC Hydrolocked is the key here. GIECO will not insure modded cars or pay for one that is. Esp one w/ a Procharger. Before you call then make sure you take all of that off.

Man, that sucks. Not sure if you've heard of them, but Trans Am Creations is a company in Florida that sells used F-body parts. I know you can get a used LS1 from them pretty cheap.
