Default Specs of metal in oil?

I changed my oil the other day and as I was draining the used oil into a waste container, I noticed tiny specs of metal at the bottom of the drain pan. They were about the size of a grain of salt, and probably a total of 15. The car is running fine, no over heating or weird noises coming from it. Also, the last time I changed my oil I found two shards of metal probably a little shorter then the length of a dime, and about a centimeter or two wide. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I really hope I don't have some major damage here or some possible breakage in the future.
thanks
-Alex

bearings is a good bet, those usually have the tendacy to chafe or get rubbed....ive spun bearings before and had to get a new motor....u can either 1 drop your pan and your main caps and see whats going on....ALOT OF WORK...or just monitor the situation and see if it keeps doing it, i dont like the sound of the dime sized stuff

I'll try to take pics tomorrow, I didn't clean out the drain pan so it should still be there. The shards from the previous oil change were a little shorter then the length of a dime, not the size of a dime. Either way it can't be good. Now Im pretty nervous, should I go ahead and start saving up for a new motor? lol. Thanks guys.

Probably just the bearings rubing on the crank, could this be signs of crank walk or just alot of high rpm use?

Hi Folks
what is your oil pressure - good or bad? Has it changed over the last oil change? That is what I would look at.
Thanks
Bill

Not meaning to hijack your thread but I also found something scary while changing my oil yesterday. These little rods (magneticly stuck to my drain bolt) were in my oil pan

Theres about 5 or 6 of them in there and thats it. I dont know where in the motor they could've come from Unless its an axle for a roller lifter or roller rocker I have no idea. It cant be an axle because there to small imo. The car runs fine except for the bad lifter I think it has. What is it?!

My oil pressure is fine, everything seems to be running normal. Although I hear a minor tick coming from the engine that Im not sure if it was always there before.

Time to change your rockers, those are the needle bearings for the rocker shafts.

Are you sure? And where exactly on the rocker arm, or rocker shaft are these located? Can somebody give me a visual? Will it dammage my engine to drive around with messed up rockers? The car seems to run fine right now.

if you break down the engine and no bearings have spun, you can just go back and polish the crank and get new bearings, if you find that a bearing has spun..........new motor my son....but look on the bright side, this is the perfect time to get that 402 youve been waiting for lol

Cut the filter open. Use a tin snips, or a filter cutter, to make sure the "junk" you may see, is not due to the cutting process.
