Default cats breaking up?

I hear a temporary noise (sounds like shaking metal in can)now and then starting from the cats and slowly moving back in the I pipe, eventually it goes away, my guess blowing it right out the tailpipes. Happened about 6months ago and happened again recently. Has this happen to anyone else?
These are 92000mi 1998cats.

if there really going out and you want to keep them you can gut them....take them off and gut them, then hook them back up but undo the i pipe and let that crap all come out

Is this a possible situation? I know cats are below efficiency, this would explain why and seems to be a logical reason for the brief moving noise.

that is possible the crap in the cats does tend to break loose, have you checked the fittings and made sure there tight?, like the exhaust hangers?
