German Castrol 0w-30 made both my cars tick
One is the 00 T/A and the other is a 98 lesabre 3.8L V6 and they both tick on start up on warm days. I'm sure there will be a lot of opinions on this but before GC I used mobil 1 at the reccomended weights for both cars, within two days of switching to GC both cars began ticking, neither has made a sound before. Using GC was a waste of my time and money. I am switching back to mobil and hoping the noise stops.

Go for it.. Switch back. The 0w-30 isn't for every car. My b\f swears by it in his TA though. I still prefer the good old 10-30. Hasn't failed me yet so see no need to switch. Hope your cars get better.

No, I would have noticed it before now and a guy that I give a ride to work noticed it before I said anything about it. Any tapping or knocking coming from an engine is not good, no matter how common it is.

I began using that instead of Mobil 1 and I noticed that my car was running cooler and felt like it was running alot better, so I use royal purple now

I had the same thing happen to the T/A when I put in the GC. Damn thing sounds like a sewing machine on startup when its warm. I'm going back to Mobil 1 10/30 when the good 'ol oil change light comes on

I don't want to start a war, but unless you have an oil temp gauge in your car then your car isn't running cooler, or at least your coolant isn't. The coolant temp should be the same because its controlled by the thermostat, not the oil temp. I suppose its possible that it could run slightly cooler under extremely heavy loads because the oil temp might not get as high, but its very unlikely you'd see that in the temp gauge in the car. Its just your mind playing tricks on you.

I have my oil analyzed at every oil change and the tests I have run show me that the GC 0W-30 is doing a great job of protecting my engine. Almost all LS1's have piston slap and many tick. If the tick is very noticibale you may have a bent pushrod. Downshift wrong and hit 7k rpm's and there is a good chance you'll bend a pushrod and develop a tick. Not saying that is it but many things can cause a tick and to blame the oil is just taking a shot in the dark really. Have your oil tested it will cost you 20 bucks...then see what the results are.

I put a Pro 5.0 and short shifter in before ever driving my car and I honestly don't see how I could ever mistakenly go into 2nd instead of 4th but I know I've read of more than a few people on here saying they have done it.

My car is an auto, and both of my cars started ticking within days of switching to GC. LS1s may be known to make noise, but 3800 v-6s are not. My LS1 never made a sound before and the fact that both cars have the same exact noise coming from the heads right after switching to GC, I would call my shot in the dark a pretty accurate one.
