The TA wont Burn Out anymore!!!
Hey guys,
I just got new wheels/tires for my TA. I got BF Goodrich G-Force in the front and KDW-2's in the rear.
When I take my TCS off and smash the gas pedal nothing happens anymore, tires wont even spin..........is this just due to new tires/wheels???
I got a 17/18 combo, Centerline wheels.......maybe the weight is makin me slower???
I dont know what it is, but its pissing me off.........my car used to seem fast as hell when it had the piece of **** stock tires/wheels it came with! haha

the big wheels definitely slow you down for sure. going from stock 16's to 18's will probably net you a loss of ~0.5 in the quarter mile, not to mention a drop in fuel economy. of course, this is assuming an equal launch. since you'll get better traction with the 17/18 combo, maybe you can even the score? either way, you'll probably go a little slower and definitely lose some mpg's. but hey, you look a lot better now i'm sure

Let me guess its an A4 with a 2.73 gear?
My car (A4 with 2.73's) I found that the stock converter and good tires would not spin them at all because the car starts out well below the LS1's powerband.
LT1's make power a lower RPM plus (at least comparing my LT1 I used to have vs the LS1 I have now) the LT1 would come on the power like a switch while the LS1 feels smoother.
If you want to light them up get a good stall... my car 2.73's, 3600 stall, street tires + full throttle = insta-burnout.

Yes, I should have thought about that. I have an A4 with the 2.73's.........I want to run a 3200 stall with 3.73's eventually. Looks like I might be doing that sooner than I planned!
Thanks for the comments guys!

Wow...so launching an LS1 car is a lot easier b/c of the lack of power down low compared to my old LT1/mustang GT (and WAY better tires than the GT)?

Man, you can literally pin my gas pedal to the floor and theres no way you could lose control with these 18's in the rear. It kind of sucks, I want new gears and a stall, now!

I could roast my tires all day long with even moderate acceleration off the line when I had Kuhmo Ecsta's but now that I have BFG KDW2's they just hook. I'm sure I could spin them if I wanted to as I have a stick but I just see $$$$ when I see people doing burnouts. The whole idea is to get the power to the ground not to fry your tires anyway right?

I have KDW's. My manual can make them spin all too easy. I am not talking about a massive clutch drop. As low as 1800 I have seen them break loose. It is really annoying in fact since I am not really a burn-out fan. I prefer to have control and leave competition in the dust then do a massive burn out (standing still forever) and looking cool to teenies.
Going back down to stock sized tires makes me seem faster from a roll but I can't launch with a $^#@$%^@ as compared to those G forces on the Corvette wheels!

Great! A quick slip from ~1900RPM gave me a 4 car lead by the top of first on a twin-turbo Audi S4. I expected him to put up more of a fight (AWD) even with the automatic. My tires will break lose depending on the road I'm on. They usually light up at about 4000RPM in 1st, but sometimes sooner if the road has less traction. That's going to change this winter (cam and longtubes).
