I got a 98 A4 and I cruise 70 at about 2500 Rs. I don't know if that is normal but that is what i do...

Stock mine idled @ 500 but my tuner set it at 750.

Mine idles at 500 warm in gear and about 1100 on first crank. goes to about 800 when sec air pump cuts off, and then down from there.

Thats not an idle, your idle is standing still. You should idle around 5-600ish depending on the accuracy of your tach. Sounds like you have a 3.23 geared car though, check your door sticker for the GU5 code.

i just checked the idle with a meter, and it was idling around 950-1100 RPM

Cold in park is like 1100, cold in gear is like 900, Warm in park is around 650-700 Warm in gear is like 500
