Can a Catch Can Help Me??? My stroker motor used top blow clean on the smog machine. I had a set of LTs installed and now it blows dirty! I can't figure out what happened. Also, my gas mileage went way down (22mpg down to 15mpg). The motor burns a lot of oil and I can see some of it in the intake. I'm going to install a catch can and an LS6 intake in the next few weeks. If these new mods can keep me from burning oil can they help to get my emissions down as well? Sorry about the really general questions but I'm at a loss and I really don't have the time to tear into the motor right now. Any info,thoughts, or ideas would be greatly appreciated
IF it's due to pcv oil, yes this will help, and in addition, will make more power due to not fouling plugs. (You have changed plugs right?) If it's due to blowby and worn rings, it may or may not help.

This may sound simplistic, but did you put your old 02's back in when you got the LTs installed? Burning in new headers is rough on 02s - I might try replacing those if you didn't already. Additionally, 02s can be performing well below ideal and still not throw codes, so you might not get an SES on this, even if it is a contributing factor.

Nope. I installed new O2 sensors up front and had the rears deleted. As for the oil consumption I just added the third additional quart in less than 3000 miles. I have a feeling the catch can is not the solution....

OK, not to sound like a dipshit again, but what all is involved in a leakdown test? I'm assuming that it has to do with the amount of oil slipping past the piston rings??? How is the test accomplished and can I do it myself? Sorry about asking again but I haven't had anyone tell me yet.
