Default Oil pressure gauge is spastic...

1998 90k miles...when sitting at a stoplight it twitches up and down sometimes...seems fine under throttle...sending unit or oil pump going bad?Or maybe a short somewhere?

theres an oil level sensor in the pan under the car....that could be going bad....a bad sending unit will just fail most of the time and cause you to have no oil pressure reading at all

Oil level is in the pan, oil pressure is behind the intake manifold.

mine does that on a REALLY hot day in stop and go traffic. Normally it wud be fine but when it's really damn hot outside (in houston) and i've been driving in stop and go traffic for a while, the gauge would do that. Put it in neutral when you're stopped and it should stay still.

My 97 Trans Am does the same thing. Anyone know how possibile it is to change the sending unit on an LT1? I know it's on the back of the motor.

My 98 Does it, i changed the OPSU too and it still does it...it reads fine when it builds pressure beyond idle and only does it at idle... I doesnt bug me anymore, maybe a bad connection in the wires.. harness
