Default Yellowish sludge stuck under oil filler cap?

Hey guys I just looked at a 2002 WS6 this evening. It has 34k miles on it, 6-speed. So I am looking the car over. It looks as though the heads have never been removed, so most likely no internal work has been done. However, when I took the oil filler cap off and looked under the cap there was a off-white/yellowish "gunk" almost like a soft margerine/butter. There was quit a bit of it stuck up in the oil filler cap, 1/4-1/2" inch worth. Again very soft, I was able to just scoop it out with my finger. Any ideas on what it may be. I was thinking either "motor honey" or worse coolant/water in the oil (possible past over-heat). What do you guys think?
Thanks for the help.

Sounds like just condensation from a lot of short trips.

Thanks for the valuble info guys. I am still wondering whether or not to buy this car. It is at a dealership. I took a look at the front wheels and the font wheels are visably out of aliagnment. The dealership is also not offering any warranty other than one for purchase.
I know the wheel alignment thing is no big deal (unless the front end is totally bend out of shape), but when I see something so obviously wrong it makes me wonder about the rest of the car.

Any tips on buying a WS6 at a dealership?

I had some of that under my oil fill cap on an 88 Chevy 4wd I had. Cracked block. It only had about 60k miles on it at the time.

It can accumulate, though, just from condensation that collects from many short trips and no long trips to drive out that moisture. I drive about 12 to 20 miles to work each day and I don't get any to speak of under the cap now. I check it at oil check and oil change. For me, now, I'd **** a brick if I saw any.

From what you described, it either never had any long trips or it has a problem.

I'd be concerned if there were a lot accumulated, and would check the radiator and every square inch of the engine and ground...especially after it came up to temp and was pressurized.

Better get a good warranty, at least...

I would see if the dealership will let you take it to a mechanic you know. If they tell you no, then just walk away. The alignment thing sounds a little suspicious to me...

DEFFINATELY take it to a mech. you know. front end suspension and water in the oil are not things to be fucked with.
