It's making a ticking type noise...sounded like an exhaust leak at first...but I replaced the gasket and made sure everything looked good on that side. Including the AIR tube. Checked the AIR tube all the way to the little motor... and still makes the noise...Hopefully it's something easy and stupid.. but Im worried

The noise happens ALL the time. When I shift, you can hear it clearer.
What has me worried is I noticed this noise when I went WOT up to about 140 MPH on the freeway. The AIR tube got loose, and originally thought that was it...but the noise continues...hopefully it is nothing big.
Sounds like a real bad exhaust leak. But I checked to see if the header was broken, anything loose...but everything checked out.

^^^I agree, sounds a bit like valvetrain noise, which won't be a huge problem if you catch it early. Your best bet if you don't know how to look at the valvetrain yourself would be to go to a shop soon. Better to fork over whatever it costs there than rebuild a whole motor later. I wonder if it could be a bent pushrod, I dunno if that would cause a noise like that though.

The noise never changes in terms of loudness. It's the same noise all the time. You can't hear it at idle though... I really do not know how to look at the valvetrain... A reputable LS1 shop said they'd charge me a flat rate of $70 dollars to look at the car then they might be able to give me a better idea of what is wrong. I think I might be doing that...

You need to check the metal gasket that sits between the AIR tube and the exhaust manifold. If this gasket is damaged(cracked, broken) it will cause a loud ticking noise under load. I just replaced plugs/wires on my car and removed the AIR tube and was warned that this gasket is very brittle and can cause a ticking noise if damaged in the least. Have you taken the AIR tube off the manifold recently? If not you can still check the gasket by removing the two 10mm bolts connecting the AIR tube to the manifold on whichever side the noise is coming from. If the gasket is damaged, you have found your problem. The AIR tube gasket is PN12553617. Good Luck!

sounds like a lifter or pushrod problem to me, but noise can be anything. but my 69 made that noise till i replaced the lifters and push rods, 2 were bent. hopefully its the gasket.
