ok so i went out with a friend and we were getting ready to leave and i dropped something in my car and it fell on the back passenger side floor mat. when i grabbed it i noticed the mat was saturated. so then i lifted the mat up and the carpet was saturated but on in the square of the floor mat was and no where else. the t-tops dont leak and there is nothing in there that could of made that happen. i did notice that the rubber bottom part of the mat had millions of tiny water bubbles.



what the hell could of caused this anyone gotta clue???

it probably is your t tops. you might not THINK they leak but they very well could be

but the water was perfect it was in the mat and then underneath it wasnt on the windows, door, seats or anything. i used a wet vac to get as much up as i could but will that be enough or should i worry about rusting underneath now?

mine does the same thing. it wont touch a thing but the floor matt, its the t tops i can almsot guarentee it.

it also could be the hole in your firewall that goes to the pcm if you have subs some times it will leak from there it might also leak from there even if you dont have subs

before you start going in there and replacing stuff try and find the leak.

Before you go all crazy with this t top thing listen to the guy on the firewall hole.
There is a hole behind the PCM on the passenger side that has a grommet in it. Various wires can run through it. If the grommet is not in all the way, old, or cut, water will come in that comes under the hood and sits in that little cavity behind the PCM. Usually there are a lot of leaves right there too, which make it difficult to see if water is actually getting in there. Check it out. You would be a bit pissed if you replaced all your t top strips (might not even fix it even if it WAS the culprit, due to body alignment) and found out the $1 grommet was actually to blame.

Do not be confused - the firewall hole comes out right in the corner of the floor board, exaclty where you are speaking.

The fresh air duct could be leaking. Check the drain under the car that drains your cowl area. Sometimes if it gets stopped up it will allow the water to drain in through the ac/heating duct. I have seen this happen more than once. Take an air hose and shoot air in the drain hose to clear it out.

Yup man I am withthese guys I bet it is not your t-tops if it were me I would pull the carpet back on the pass side have a guy on the inside with a light and then spray car with water.. You always must find the leak before you can fix it..

lo-jak are you talking about the front seat floor mat on the passenger side? im talking about the rear and the front wasnt wet.

i just dont see how it could be on the rear mat it was only on the rear mat and no where else not under the seat or anything...

I had a leak that magically stopped that was comming from the front passenger side. It would leak under the carpet im assuming and the rear passenger floor would be wet, sometimes soaked. Thats probably your issue.

It is conceivable that it could still be from the grommet, since the floorpan slopes downward towards the back seat but if you are absoluetly sure the front floorboard is not wet and has not been (had the heater on lately?) then it could be the tops. I have had mine parked on an incline and the grommet leaks all the way to the rear floormat. But that is a lot less likely than the rear top gasket leaking, or even the seal on the window (they are on by pressure, remember, not in a channel) leaking at the B billar.

25$ for the anwser evaporator drain i worked a camaro with a clogged evaporator drain this will cause condensation to build up in the ac box and will flood the passenger side floor board you need to get the car off the ground on the passender side look for the bottom of the ac box there will be a about a 5/8 size hole take and blow some compressed air through it first bein the preffered method or take a coat hanger straighten it and proceed to probe the hole with care because the ac evaporator is a mildly expensive repair to do on these cars and you dont wanna damage it

see what had me totally fooled was it was only the rear not even under the seat and not on the front mat or underneath it. it was just the rear mat and then underneath it nothing other than the mat and what is underneath it was wet.

hey coming from a gm tech when u get a chance go run the car let it idle ten to fifteen minutes with the ac on high and see if u get water dripping down under the car if it dont check the the carpet and make sure that wetness doesnt smell like coolant if it does smell like coolant the heater core sprung a leak i have yet to see that happen on a 4th gen so i would would really look into ac box drain bein clogged it will really only worsen if u run your ac with it in this condition thats where to water will run to first because of the shape of the floor pan on the passenger side

Yeah buddy, Mine would do that too and the drain plug was clogged.I was gunna take it to the dealer,they told me 150.00. found the leak, fixed it and spent the money on tint, and a lou's short stick, lol
