I continue to use Dex-cool. The Prestone "pre-mix" as they call it is pretty darn expensive, though. When I did my cam swap I bought 3 gallons and it was over 30 bucks at Pep-Boys.

You will see a "Orange vs. Green" camp here though

I use only Dexcool (Prestone version) in all my GM cars including my LS1. No problems after all these years. Just don't wait 150K miles to change it like GM recommends, and don't let the cooling system run significantly low on coolant.

The coolant isn't the problem. That stupid-long change interval that GM recommends is the problem.

I like the Dexcool 50/50 premix too. It's a litte more expensive than mixing it yourself, but I'm a lazy bastard.

you use coolant in your patrol cars? hmm We don't use coolant in ours we're so bad *** even our cars cool themselves... They dont make you work on your own cars do they? That would suck, but they do it in a dept. close to mine.

ANYWAY I use dex-coolant and always did in my LT1 and now in my LS1 no problems... ever.

+ I hear it's a .000000000000000000000000000000000001 rwhp gain

btw here is an easy way to mix.... buy:

One gallon of dex-cool (~$10)
Two gallons of DISTILLED water...

Add the coolant and fill until radiator stops bubbling the coolant down. Idle the car until it reaches operating temp, keep topping off and it should take the whole bottle of dexcool plus about 1.2 gallons of water.
