keeping mice out of the engine bay on a DD
keeping mice out of the engine bay on a DD I have no option but to leave my car outside and I need a couple of ideas on what to use to keep mice out of my engine bay and chewing **** up. The little MFers chewed up the wiring on my moms car and it was a PITA to fix it. they havn't gotten my car yet but I know its only a matter of time, I daily drive my car and so does she but I guess they get in there overnight.
I've heard of dryer sheets, or mothballs?

do NOT use normal rat poison unless you want the stench of a dead rat in your car. If you do use poison, there is one out there that dehydrates them. It literally leaves a "husk" of the rat behind. No bad smell at all. It works great, we used it on our investment property when we first bought it. I would go with a deterrent for now, just so you dont chance having to ride around wondering just wear that dead rat crawled to and died in your engine bay.

i don't live on a farm, nor near the woods. I live in a rural town but still, these little bastards caused me so much heartache with my mom's car. i guess i'll try some old fasioned traps since my car will be sitting untill the salt if off the roads

rat "husks" classic. I think I saw on of the Mexican roofers around the neiborhood wearing one of these rat "husks" jacket . Seriously those little bastards are like impossible to stop though. One person i knew in high school had left a car in the garage and mice had stolen dog food from them and put it all in the door panels and stunk up the car when it started to ferment. Had to total out the car when they took it to shop to find out what the stink was. I used this anti-racoon crap one time that made me not want to be in the garage may work on mice but it smelled like pepper and burns my nose but i'd rather have that the damn mice and racoons in my car.

oh do i have a good story for this...
so i go over to my buddies house to listen to the brand new 347 stroker motor he just got finished with in his fox mustang a couple days before. i get over there and tell him to fire it up. he procedes to, and instantly we hear a loud THUD from the front of the car. At this point hes thinking "oh ****". He pops the hood, and what was there? Mice guts ALL over the engine compartment. i guess a mouse was sitting on or around the belt, and got cut up and chucked into the hood when he started it.
He was sooooooo pissed, but relieved at the same time. It took him like 3 hours to get all the guts off everything.
