Default Help! 180 Fix Gone Awry

I did the 180 fix to my driver side light that was making the grinding sound and now something is wrong and I have no idea what to do..

I did the fix and put the light back down manually like I was supposed to, then I hit the lights and the passenger side came up but the driver side didn't.

So I turn the lights off, then the driver side pops up and the passenger side goes down so now I'm thinkin WTF.

Then I turned the lights back on, the passenger side pops up to match the drivers side...I turn the lights off and they both go down(with no grinding I might add).

Then I hit the lights again and the passenger side goes up driver does nothing, I turn off the lights passenger goes down driver does nothing.

Does anyone know WTF is going on? I am completely stumped.

These lights have a mind of their own.

Damn, I would just replace the hole motor. Or take it back out and put it back in...Or disconnect the battery wait a little bit and re-conect it see if that works.

^^^ No need for new motors, just get the brass gears and be done with it.

Ok, I left out a couple of details, after I did the 180 I think I put the headlight down too far because I tried to raise and lower them a couple of times and it didn't move at all. So then I manually raised it to the top again then manually put it back down again. Now I'm where I'm at in the first post.

It didn't grind anymore when it did go up and down, so the gear does work but I have no idea what is going on.

What he meant was make sure both headlights are up when you take one of them apart and put it together. I've done the same thing as you have before when I had my firebird. Its just a simple mistake, no worries. You'll get it to work like its supposed to. GL.

Ok, after I manually raise both up and I take the arm off the motor shaft on the drivers side again then what do I do? I'm sorry for the mass idiocy but I sincerely appreciate the time.

it sounds like you have the arm on the wrong portion of the motor, When it attempts to go up, does it only go part way up?

The first time I lowered the light, when I lowered it too far, it did pop up about an inch, but I do not see how the arm could be on the wrong portion of the motor nut. I put it back on the way it came off.

SUCCESS! I did not turn the motor an entire 180 degrees and the arm was not fitting under that white tab like the passenger side. Now the driver side light comes up quicker than the passenger side, which means I'll prolly be doing this again sometime in the near future.....

Thanks for the help guys.
