I change my Mobil 1 every 3,000 miles.... have been using Mobil 1 oil filters but I'm sick of paying 13 bux for a filter when I can buy an AC Delco for 4....
I doubt there's a "High performance" filter out there.... sounds like it's unlikely flowing oil better would help any (power wise)... (read an article in HotRod Magazine tonight where they said that)
My suggestion, if you change your oil every 3K.... just get an AC Delco or Fram.... oil filters generally don't need to be changed at every oil change (or so my dads said) so if you change your oil often , just get the cheapest filter you can..

Re: Oil filter
Stay far away from Fram! Read these pages:
http://www.twocreeks.net/toby/fram.shtml
http://www.allpar.com/eek/oil.html
http://www.venturers.org/NextGenTech...er_review.html
http://www.websorcerer.com/GeekOut/
http://www.ntpog.org/reviews/filters/filters.shtml
http://www.cs.rochester.edu/u/jag/vw...ilfilters.html
http://www.nsxprime.com/FAQ/Maintenance/fluidfilter.htm
Also, if it's a high flow oil filter you want, the K&N Performance Gold fits the bill. It's made by the same people that make the Mobil 1, so it's a very well made filter. The Mobil 1 is designed to filter smaller particles, and goes down to about 10 microns. The K&N is designed to flow more, and filters down to 18 microns. An AC Delco only filters down to 25-30 microns. The K&N and Mobil 1 have burst strengths far beyond that of other filters. Most filters are rated at only 150-200psi, while the M1 and K&N are rated at 550-600! You can feel the difference when you pick them up, they are heavy and the canister does not crush in your hand.

For the LT1, the long K&N is HP-3002.

Re: Oil filter
www.jegs.com sells the K&N's for $8.99 each. I buy about 5 at a time to save on shipping. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Re: Oil filter
PATMAN SAYS:... they are heavy and the canister does not crush in your hand.
I have never crushed an oil filter in my hand....but I've crushed one on my forhead. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
