Have you ever blown an engine because of your oil? If so, what brand.

No more "which is better"

How about which oil tastes better???

5w 30

i use RP 5w 30 olny because around here it is cheaper than mobil1 (RP 5.99 a qt, mobil 1 7.49 a qt) also no oil consumption.

base your oil choices on wear numbers by having UOA's done and not on oil pressure, color, and/or how pretty the bottle is or isn't...lol Every car will be different and what oil works great for one car may not be the best choice for another. I will say that, based on UOA's, the LS1's seem to like the European spec stuff.....GC 0w30, Mobil 1 0w40, etc.

Man I think I will just switch the the wal-mart brand super tech synthetic. It's cheaper.

What do you guys think about a grade like 5W-50? I know my last oil change was done with that grade in the Mobile 1 Synthetic. Will it damage any parts? Frankly I don't think so but I want advice or people who know soemthing about that oil in LS1.

run it for 3-4,000 miles and get a UOA done, that's the ONLY way you will know how -your- engine likes it.

Ams Oil all the way, im running 0w30 in my 99 camaro with 103,000 miles and its working great. Plus i dont have to change my oil for 15K
