Found this http://www.pureenergysystems.com/new...00069_Acetone/

That video looks like an ad for their scan gauge actually, which is available on the site as well. Acetone is pretty cheap though, someone should try it. I don't want to blow my heads off by trying it first.

The first things he did will help, basically he just did a tune up, which is pretty obvious. Not using AC will also help since the engine is under less of a load. Not sure about the acetone though. Also just looked up the MPG on a 2002 acura TL (guessing from the mileage) and it was rated 29mpg highway with him ending in 34mpg. If your that concerend just do a tune up and dont use your right foot, myself on the other hand gets about 200 miles per tank

I'm with you. Someone else needs to try this first, it is very interesting though.

the acetone probably does the same thing the seafoam would do? which causes the increase of mpg for future tanks. im not sure just an idea

I read somewhere that the acetone mixed with fuel can break down plastic lines and o-rings. Dunno if I'd wanna risk that.

I'd be really interested in seeing if this works too... 30% increase like it says you can get on that second site would be great. I'm in college so driving a car that gets on average ~17mpg around town can be a bit more expensive than i would like. I got 27 on the highway my last trip, but can you imagine telling someone you have a car with almost 400hp and it gets 35mpg on the highway. lol. I wouldn't mind that.. That's like 22mpg in town too. Big difference. I would go about 300 miles on a tank instead of like 240.

Edit: I do actually have an old Mazda Navajo and and old '93 Z28... Maybe I'll try this sometime. I just don't want to lose the cars if something goes bad. lol

How was that stupid little car only getting 17 mpg when I get not much less in the city with my car?

I am sure there was some manipulation in there.

Either way, he still got a fairly big increase after all the tune up stuff he did. Thats the only number I payed attention to was the after tune-up number. My car would be much closer to a "tuned-up" number now anyway. After that he went from 24 to 34. Huge jump. That would still put me up to like 22 or more mpg. I don't even count the first stuff he did though, that doesn't count for me.

I think I may test this sometime when I feel like spending a bunch on gas in a day. lol. Drive to indy and back with the cruise on (about 2 hours round trip) then with up and put acetone in and do it again and see what happens.

Ok.... I just aquired a 1997 Ford Escort. I will put it to the test..... as soon as I fix the odometer. I am quite skeptical of this theory. Actually, when I first heard of this a while ago is the entire reason why I bought this piece of ****. So... I'll let yall know.

I can double my mileage like that too...

I'll hit the track all day on 1 tank, then drive all highway on the next...

that's not exactly definitive proof.

give me a test of a highway trip crossing a few thousand miles and show me the results...

I've been getting 13mpg in the city.
Stock A4 with the optional 3.23 in the rear and an aftermarket lid.

THat video is full of crap. Even after a tuneup the fuel economy increase (if any) doesn't just show up instantly. It will take a few hundred miles of driving to see results, and that's more pronounced if the engine was misfiring. Anyway, yes I have tried acetone in the Olds for about half a year. I saw an AVERAGE increase of almost 2 MPG, maybe around 1.7 mpg calculated during my work commute (70% hwy). There's a sweet-spot ratio where the acetone works best. I got mine around 2.5 oz per 10 gals. Under 2 and over 3 oz I would get less of an increase. I stopped using it when I made more modifications to the engine, since I need to get some base MPG numbers in w/o the acetone. The addition of acetone is NOT going to harm your fuel system. You're talking a maximum of 3 oz per 10 gals of fuel, which is 0.00234%

I was going to put a big point-counterpoint thing about conspiracies in here but I got lazy.

I've thought about investigating the Acetone. Just drive so little anymore don't think it would help me.
