my car is a 1999 z-28, auto

my car feels so sluggish on the bottom end, but from mid range (40pmh plus)it pulls hard. it also is wasting lots of gas, and I mean alot, where before it would do great. now im filling up like 3-4 times a week alone! and I believe its running too rich from what ive been told. just wondering what could cause this to happen? the car has only has full exhaust, and thats it. rebuilt tranny, stock converter. what could it be??any help would be great!

also the car has 107,000 miles, has been cared for and has new msd wires and ngk tr6 plugs when the headers were done so its not that. also the car ran like this even prior to my tranny crapping out so I dont believe its the new tranny either! pleasseee help!

Why a TR6 plug on an n/a car? TR55 is a better range for your application.

Have you calculated the MPG yet?

Any stored codes? I'd see if perhaps the fuel filter needs replacing, or maybe the o2 sensors are pooping out (common problem with headers). Ever have it tuned?

dont know the actual codes, but they are stored, and are codes for no cats, no air!, egr!, and something about bank treshold, basically 02 sensor or sensors...the guy that did my headers told me to run the tr6 instead of tr55s? the car went from filling it up once and lasting me all work week (5 days at least), to having to fill up id say 3 times a 7 day week now

pick yourself up some tr55s and o2 sensors first off. the tr6 is a colder plug used for nitrous.It also sounds like the long tubes maybe throwing everything off quite a bit.Probably gonna need a tuner to get everything back to normal specs

plug in a scanner and check for immature codes and check your fuel trims also.

second the tr55's. no need for tr6's unless your spraying or boosting

how do you check fuel trims? will 02 simulators fix the 02 sensor codes,and stop it from running rich?

You need a scanner that displays live data or PID's (Parameter Identification Data), this is basically a fancy way of saying, "sensor voltages". You will look for something that looks like: LT Fuel B1 and B2, Long Term Fuel Trim Bank 1 and Bank 2, or LTFT Bk1 and Bk2. It varies from scanner to scanner. There should be a value that ranges from -25 to +25. Post this number. Also get your car engine nice and warm and tell us if your fuel system is going into Closed Loop.
