BIGGER crack!
Sorry, I just gotta vent. My drivers side door pannel crack just grew another inch! B.S. Pontiac needs to put out a recall list for this too. I guess it's time for a new door pannel. Any ideas where to go? Prices?

I just found this wonderful Forum and want to mention that my 1999 Trans Am door's are also cracked the same way, at the same place. This is horrible! I bought this as a preowned car last Jan. and thought someone had just took the door panel off and messed up. Until now. This is my 4th bird, had a 77 TA, 89 Forumla, 94 Formula and now a 99 TA. My 94 did not do this on the door. I suppose I need to act on this also. Thanks for all the info on here!

I had a 95 T/A. The door panels are thicker and therefore stronger. In fact thats what I intend to use as my replacement panels, as my 95 was parted out. I already spoke with a local upholstery shop about switching the cloth panels and speaker/map pocket.
As far as the non T/A, specifically firebird, door panels, they are the exact same door panels that are used in the T/A.

So are the LT1 panels thicker? I thought they cracked as well.

yeah the map pocket and speaker pod is different in cars without monsoon but as I said they are the exact same door panels
I believe the Firebirds can have the monsoon option same as a T/A
my formula has the monsoon system (well it did until I removed the speakers, amp, and headunit)
where as my LT1 T/A did not have the monsoon system (so I guess you would call them firebird door panels?)
and I do believe the LT1 are harder panels, but I do intend to exam mine throughly before installing them

yeah all the plastic panels and cloth panels are "interchangeable" between all door panels
the plastic panels and cloth panels are plastic welded to the main part of the plastic door panel
as far as the different speaker grills their is a 6.5" hole in both door panels

My '02 TA is cracked on the driver side, haven't seen cracks yet on the passenger. Truly pisses me off every time I go to detail the interior.
As awesome as it would be, GM will never do a recall on this. It is not a safety issue (so they will not be forced to) and it is a dead car to them.
An excellent idea but make sure and use thicker material.

Well I've had my 2000 T/A A4 for about 3 weeks now and started to notice a tiny (~1/4" long) crack starting on my drivers side door panel. The car only has 22k miles on it!! WTF!! I purchased a 3yr 36k mile warrenty on the car...Will the stealership replace the panel under the warrenty?
